Memorial Day

I spent Memorial Day, bustin' my rump cleaning out gutters, trimming the lawn, getting fresh sand for the sand box so it isn't a litter box anymore and buying some plants for the front of the house. My goal this year is to not kill my front porch plants. Lofty goal, I know, but I think I can, I think I can. David played with Jeremy and got to have some pool time with his dad. We also went to see Burton, which was a long time coming.

Chalk Cancun

David and I spent much of Saturday helping Scott pack up and move across town. Well, except when we played at the pool for about four hours, but I swear I ran out of boxes and bags to pack things in. Anywho, this was David's chalk creation that he made on Scotts new driveway. He and I were both really impressed. Hard to see it in the the picture, but he did a lot of color mixing. He has some artistic flare that he did not get from his mama.

Sweaty Boy

David plays hard at gymnastics. He has been in Boy Scouts, basketball & tennis, but only wants to stick with gymnastics. Of course that would be the most expensive activity, but whatever. This picture was actually taken on May 27th, but I left my camera at the school this weekend and I'm just now getting to it.

BCSA Talent Show-Sonny & Cher

Here it is!

Purple People Eater

David's class got to be in the talent show today. They sang and danced to Purple People Eater and it was so cute. He really got into it and wasn't shy about performing, which I love.

I Got You Babe!

Well, I finally got Julie to do the whole Sonny and Cher bit at the talent show. We had a blast. I thought she was going to have an anxiety attack when we practiced it last night, but when we performed it today, she was great. She hammed it up (have no idea if that is how you spell hammed). We had a blast hosting the show and the kids did great. I tell you what that leather jacket of my mom's has come in handy on a number of occasions. Wonder if she wore it as much as I have.

Wii

Somewhere I got off on my dates. This picture is from Monday over at Brian's house. David loves playing on the Wii. Glad it's at Dad's house and not mine.

American Idol Party

What a fun time with the girls. I didn't even watch American idol this season, but I can't miss the party because it is too much fun. This group of ladies is carefree and just fun to be around. Missed Laura this year who was working and Shelly who just needed some home time. Glad Julie invites me.

Stopping to Smell the Flowers

These flowers smelled wonderful. David and I couldn't resist taking a picture. And the rainbow was courtesy of the rain. A wonderful reminder of God's love for us.

Roaring River Trip

Brian and David went to Roaring River and had loads of fun playing in the water and feeding the fish. Brain said that he forgot his wallet in the car and David spent 30 minutes picking up fish food that others had dropped so that he could feed the fish. Determined little boy.

A Day at the Circus

While Brian and David were off playing in the water, I went to the circus with Scott and the kids. Maggie got to ride an elephant, which I am jealous of. We saw lions and tigers, but no bears. Rats! But we did see a dog show that was cute and the performance was rounded off with a pitiful juggling act. All in all a great afternoon.

Being Silly

It was a beautiful Saturday. Got my toenails painted and bought a new dress. I would show everybody my new dress, but my legs are so white it could blind someone. I don't want that on my conscience. And of course David is being silly with the tree guy out in front of our house. Always the clown.

Backyard Fun

David just cracks me up. Just a little while ago he dug a hole in the backyard with our shovel, which is bigger than he is. His purpose in digging said hole was to "pee in it." Having accomplished the task, he covered the hole back up and patted the dirt down. What can I say? He's a boy. He is also fond of saying, "Mom, look under there." I dutifully respond with, "Under where?" And he laughs like it is the funniest joke ever. Love that boy. We both got our first mosquito bites of the season. Here we go. Going to have to hose down with bug spray before going outside to play. Small price to pay for backyard fun.

What an awesome field day. The kids had so much fun. I got to man the bouncy house which everyone loved, even the older kids. David was totally filthy after the whole event and swears that he is not taking a bath tonight because he took one yesterday. He is deceiving himself.

Mina loves to ride in the car with us. She sticks her head out the window and waits patiently for us to come back from whereve we have gone. Won't be able to do it much longer though because it will be too hot. The last time I had her in the car at church, she jumped out the window and was roaming around welcoming visitors. That could be a good idea for a unique greeter's ministry.

At the Terrells for dinner with my great friends Shelly and Julie. Life would be dull without these two.

Who says that David won't eat peas? Not me anymore. He ate all of them tonight and I was thrilled.

Brian was at school today with David as the WatchDawg Dad and they both had a blast. They played dodge ball and football and Brian got to read two different books to David's class. A great day.

Well, here it is...our first photo. We are curled up in bed reading our books. I am reading a book Mary Kate suggested called The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and David is reading See You Later, Galdiator. Good stuff. Love reading a good book before bed.

David and I are setting out on an adventure together inspired by a former student. We are planning on taking a picture of ourselves every single day for a year. We are on day number four now and have already gotten some great pictures. I have been so neglectful in taking pictures of David and I know my time with him is short. And I can probably count on one hand the number of pictures I have of myself (that is an exageration, but it feels true). So here we go and I hope we enjoy it.
